The recent Solent Redhawks vs Bournemouth Bobcats American football match was an excellent opportunity for third-year media technology students, who made possible its live streaming, as well as two sports journalism students who provided the running commentary.
This opportunity was part of the media technology students’ assignment and student-led project. Polly Long, Senior Lecturer in Media Technology, said: “This opportunity provided an excellent outside broadcasting experience for the students in an up-and-coming area of broadcasting for the UK.”
The live stream has been viewed over 1,000 times since it was uploaded, from people from all over the world, from the USA and United Arab Emirates to Europe.
Pedro Jervis, student Unit Manager, said: “Everyone worked really hard to put the live stream together, and we got great feedback. The opportunity to live stream an event to the world is invaluable and gave great work experience to everyone involved.
“The students put the broadcast together from scratch, and as the Unit Manager, I couldn’t be happier with their efforts.”
